Telly is still a prototype. This page distinguishes current processing from planned launch protections so families can evaluate the product without vague promises.
Telly must be set up and used under the supervision of a responsible adult. A parent or guardian should manage permissions, charging, connectivity, physical checks, and the child's use. Telly and its alerts do not replace direct adult attention, judgment, or care.
Telly is voice-first. In the current prototype, a child's speech is transmitted for speech recognition, converted into text, and processed to generate a spoken response. The prototype currently uses Google speech and cloud services and OpenAI language technology. Providers and configurations may change before launch and will be listed in the product privacy notice.
OnKaru does not yet make a public promise that audio or transcripts are never stored. Retention can differ between prototype environments and service providers. Before any family trial, participating adults will receive a product-specific notice explaining exactly what is retained, for how long, where it is processed, and how to request deletion.
During controlled prototype testing, access may be given to the authorized parent or caregiver and to a limited number of OnKaru personnel and service providers when needed for testing, debugging, support, or safety review. Access controls and the parent dashboard are still being finalized for launch.
Planned alerts may identify conversation themes that could deserve a parent's attention. They are not a diagnosis, therapy, emergency monitoring, or a guarantee that every concern will be detected. False positives and missed signals are possible, so adults must use their own judgment and seek qualified help when needed.
Telly is being tested with age-aware rules for unsafe requests, adult topics, secrecy, dependency, self-harm, abuse, and other sensitive situations. The intended response is to limit or redirect the conversation and, where appropriate, encourage the child to speak with a trusted adult.
Development combines Dr. Fatemeh Jahedpari's AI research, AI advice from Dr. Peyman Faratin, educational and operational input from Nafiseh Gharavi, engineering review, and family prototype feedback. External child-development review is planned before wider trials; OnKaru will name formal reviewers when those arrangements are confirmed.
The early-access form is intended for adults aged 18 or over. It asks adults not to submit a child's name, health information, voice recording, or other personal details. The separate Privacy Policy explains how website enquiries are handled.
Telly is a companion and learning product under development. It does not replace parents, teachers, clinicians, emergency services, or professional care. In an urgent situation, contact local emergency services or an appropriate qualified professional.
